I like Dell and have very obedient luck with adjectives my Dell's computers over the years, but it's all something like what you like and your budget too, travel with a well brought-up warranty specially if you are planning to pay over $1000.00 for it, Dell have a complete care warranty that covers what others don't for that plea, my answer is Dell. But in the other appendage if you are good beside computers Apple is not a bad choice, specially if you hold an I-pod, keep within mind that antyhing with Windows have more support and you will have more choices when it comes to peripherals/solutions. BTW if you return with Vista make sure to upgrade to at lowest Premium or Ultimate, you will never regret it.
I think that respectively brand has it pros and con's.Dell is the best for desktops and excellent near their xps notebooks if you want to buy a dell merely buy it from Costco because they have a 6 month money final guarantee. if you are into graphic editing and focal stuff then specifically get a mac. if you only just want something affordable get an hp. if you want something stylish obtain a Sony they also have excellent notebook. hope that helps
