You could use any windowpane cleaner or if you have rubbing alcohol it works capably too. Just be sure to put it on a soft cloth rather than directly on the wipe to prevent it from leaking into the computer.
Any cassette will clean it simply fine. I keep a couple rolls of scotch video in the drawer of late for cleaning mine....



One piece of tape, pressed onto the scanner, after peel stale. Repeat a few times as needed, and your done!



I have a fingerprint scanner, and the suggested bearing to clean it is near tape, not a spray......No streaks, and no likelihood for fluids to leak into the electronics.
