What would you recommend for a investigational laptop, an AMD or Intel Core 2 Duo processor?

There really aren't 'others' in the common unless you consider the powerPC architecture -which is only used surrounded by Macs.



It depends what you want to do with it - unquestionable types of applications will exhibit greater speedups with the Intel, while others are better accelerate by the AMD. The reasons for this are extremely complicated and not worth trying to grasp your head around (you could do several PHDs within this subject alone).



The bottom line is - if it's for nonspecific purpose (office applications etc) then it *really* doesn't thing. If you have a more specific application within mind, google for some 'benchmark' tests of the processors you are thinking just about - these will tell you contained by real-terms what kind of implementation you can expect from each below certain conditions.



Remember - AMD X2 is a 64-bit dual core processor gamut, same as Intel Duo.
Intels best for games
Either one is excellent , so it does not matter. You pick what you want.
Depends on what you are after. All the test point to Intel Core 2 Duo being the best composer at the moment. No contest.
I have single used Intel, so I'm sticking wioth what works for me.

i would recommend amd... it's also dual-core and it's 64-bit.
AMD and Intel are both excellect processors. If I would reccommend anything go beside the 64-bit, Dual-core processors. I myself have an AMD Turion 64 dual-core.
